Rhythm of life
There is rhythm and pulse in all people's lives. Everything we do has some kind of rhythm. What makes time go slow? What makes you feel like time has passed too quickly? Can we find new rhythms and ways to move in our life? What pieces should we add or remove?
It's time for Swing Kids Swing Teens to look at some of the pieces that go into a typical day. The day is often governed by schedules, clocks and routines.
This summer's theme revolves a lot around music and especially jazz music where rhythms are essential.
We will create rhythms through body percussion, which means that you use the body as a tool to create rhythms through stomping, hand clapping, finger snapping and clapping.
The tempo will also be more intense with traditional African dance. As a contrast and to also listen inwardly, you will learn more about Yoga. Here you can try to stretch both your body and your mind. And of course lots of Lindy hop that moves in a landscape between the fastest wild to the quietest togetherness and presence.
We want to get to know you better, so please bring something from home that describes who you are or how you live your life. At the Friday party, the theme is "Blockfest" and Folkets hus will be a construction site. Also feel free to bring something you want to build into the Friday party.
As usual, in true Swing Kids Swing Teens spirit, there will be lots of authentic dancing and fun activities.

The dance camp is for everyone who is 8 years old (born in 2017) to 17 years old (born in 2008), from beginners to those who want to dance competitively.
This summer, July 5-11, we offer the following groups, and international means that we speak both Swedish and English in the lessons:
* International Classic Swing Kids (8-12 years). This group can be divided into two groups in the form of Kids and Cats depending on the number of entries.
* International Classic Swing Teens (13-17 years). This group can be divided into two groups in the form of beginners and continuation depending on the number of registrations.
About international Classic Swing kids Swing teens
There are seven Lindy Hop lessons: some lessons focus on social dancing and some choreography lessons. All students have themed classes, their own choice and activities.
Theme classes
We always offer three themed classes and the groups are divided by age. Each group has one lesson each in the respective theme class.
Prices and food
The price for 2025 is SEK 3300, of which SEK 500 is a non-refundable deposit after you register. The participation fee includes the closing dinner on Thursday and Friday's lunch. A food package comprising five lunches (Sunday-Thursday) is exclusive of the course fee and can be purchased on site and then at a cost of SEK 700.

Own choice
The lessons are age-integrated and you have four lessons of your choice. Choose between:
* Solo jazz and Tap: Authentic jazz with a focus on rhythm, with and without tap shoes.
* Street dance: Modern dance to contemporary music. (Can be divided into 2 groups if the basis is available.)
* Play in a band. Bring your own instrument and play in an ensemble.
Activities
The camp offers a combination of dance lessons and fun activities during the days. The activities are a way for students to get to know new friends and relax. The camp takes place at 10.00 to 16.40, Sunday to Friday. We offer evening activities between 20.00 and 22.00 Sunday to Wednesday. Thursday evening the students get to show what they learned during the week and family and friends can come. On Friday there will be a swimming excursion and then a tea dance on the Dansbanan. On Friday evening, the entire Herräng Dance Camp is masked and the theme is "Blockfest". So don't forget to pack suitable fancy dress clothes and feel free to bring something that you want to incorporate into the party.
Accommodation
There are several options that HDC offers: dormitory accommodation, rent a room in Woodside, book private accommodation, bring a tent or caravan. There are also several options on Airbnb.se.
Woodside is simple accommodation with one bunk bed per room, with mattress, duvet and pillow. You bring your own bed linen and towel.

Snowball Swing Kids Swing Teens 2024 was amazing!
This is a collaboration between us and 4 Swede's Production. 4 Swede’s production are the organizers of Snowball. All dance classes for Kids and Teens and all our activities are arranged by us, Mattias and Hanna Lundmark and our wonderful team. As usual, in true Swing Kids Swing Teens spirit, there will be plenty of Lindy Hop and plenty of time to get to know all the new dance friends. This is a day camp December 27-30 at the Quality Hotel Strawberry Arena, formerly called the Quality Hotel Friends Arena, in Stockholm.You will meet our experienced dance teachers and dance Lindy Hop, Streetdance, Step and Authentic Jazz. You don't need to have any previous dancing experience, but it's important that you think it's fun to dance.
Depending on how many people sign up, these age ranges can change between Kids and Teens.
When you register, there are two choices:
The dance lessons
We are a day camp where the children are with us all day. We mix everything from couple dance to street dance.
For the couple dance lessons, you can click in if you want to lead, follow or if it doesn't matter.
Evenings
In the evenings there is social dancing, competitions and other pleasantries. All swing kids can bring a guardian during the evening, who can also go home when your child goes home. A chance for you parents to social dance with your children. As for swing teens, they must have their own responsibility during the evening and must be 13 years old.
Activities
In addition to dancing, we do many activities where we get a chance to get to know each other better. There will be everything from crafts, spa, games, film screenings and small excursions. If the weather permits, we want to have a chance to go out with the groups, so bring good clothes for winter play.
Food
The dance camp fee includes fruit every day. For an extra fee, you can order a lunch-package where we arrange lunch boxes to eat together with the group. We will get back to you about the price. Students can also bring their own lunch box or go away and eat with their guardian during lunch. Unfortunately, there is no possibility to cool your own box during the day.

Herräng Dance Camp
The dance camp runs parallel with Herräng Dance Camp, which started already in 1982. All adults can take classes and dance at the same time as their children, so this is an excellent summer activity for the whole family. In addition to the dance camp there is plenty to do: Bands and DJs play on three dance floors, exhibitions, dance competitions, masquerades, shows, vintage clothing shop, taster classes, lectures, panel discussions and vintage films. Experience cultural heritage with Herräng's beautiful mines, visit Grisslehamn, Norrtälje, Roslagen's lakes and beautiful ocean, archipelago, forest and wildlife. Accommodation is everything from bunk beds in dormitory, tents, caravans or rent a cottage in the village. There are restaurants, food carts, café, ice cream parlor, a small local shop and the town Hallstavik, only 10 minutes away by car. |
