KALABALINDY, MATTIAS AND HANNA
joy. inclusion. freedom.
Kalabalindy
Kalabalindy is a dance collective specialized in African American dance, founded by the artistic leaders Hanna and Mattias Lundmark. With their unique way of dancing, they lift and honor dance styles through the history of time, beginning in the swing era and moving into contemporary dance.
Their vision is to create, through dancing and performing arts, an accessible and including platform that brings people together and inspires communication. Communication and interaction develop the understanding of people's lives and their place in existence.
Kalabalindy consists of a group of like-minded and experienced dancers and together they organize courses, workshops and performances for people of all ages, all over the world. The joy of dancing is always at the center and the participants are encouraged to find the natural dance within. The goal is to create a dance-experience full of joy, inclusion and freedom.
Mattias and Hanna
Mattias and Hanna are known for their fast, high-energy Lindy Hop and explosive airsteps, but also for their fun and warm personalities.
They find inspiration by studying and recreating dance-clips with great artists like Nicholas Brothers, Bill ”Bojangles” Robinson, George ”Shorty” Snowden, Sid Cherise and all dancers from Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers.
Mattias and Hanna are internationally recognized both as performers, social dancers, teachers and choreographers.
During the late 90´s they joined the exceptional swingdancetroup ”The Rhythm Hot Shots” that later became ”Harlem Hot Shots”.
Today their focus is, together with likeminded dancers, building a new plattform for socialdancing. To give new life to authentic dancestyles of the swing era and introducing it to children aswell as adults. And to make space in the modern world, in new rooms and on new stages, to bringing the past into the future.
